In the 49th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, England secured victory over New Zealand by four wickets and won all of their Super Eight matches.In the match played in Colombo, New Zealand batted first and posted 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. England chased the target successfully, reaching it with six wickets down and three balls remaining.

Pakistan’s chances of reaching the semi final remain alive. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka tomorrow, and to qualify they must not only win the match but also improve their net run rate.

If Pakistan bat first, they will need to defeat Sri Lanka by 65 runs to secure a semi final spot. While chasing, they must achieve the required target within 13 overs.At a crucial stage of the game, Will Jacks and Rehan Ahmed formed a decisive seventh wicket partnership of 44 runs in 16 deliveries, guiding England to victory.

Will Jacks remained unbeaten on 32 and Rehan Ahmed on 19. Among the other batters, Tom Banton scored 33, captain Harry Brook made 26, Sam Curran added 24, Phil Salt scored 2, and Jos Buttler was dismissed without scoring.

For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra took three wickets, while Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, and Glenn Phillips claimed one wicket each.

In the first innings, Glenn Phillips top scored for New Zealand with 39 runs, followed by Tim Seifert with 35, Finn Allen with 29, Mark Chapman with 15, Cole McConchie with 14, Rachin Ravindra with 11, and Daryl Mitchell with 3.

For England, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, and Rehan Ahmed picked up two wickets each, while Liam Dawson took one wicket.
