Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has decided to withdraw from the auction for the nineteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, calling it a significant decision after enjoying several memorable seasons in the tournament. He shared the announcement on his Instagram account but did not mention any specific reason for skipping IPL 2026.
Maxwell wrote that he will not be submitting his name for this year’s auction and expressed deep gratitude for everything the league has given him. He added that the IPL played an important part in shaping him both as a cricketer and as a person. According to him, he has been fortunate to represent top franchises, play alongside world-class teammates and perform in front of passionate crowds.
He said the memories, challenges and the excitement of playing in India will stay with him forever, and he thanked fans for their support over the years, hoping to return again someday.
During his IPL journey, Maxwell represented Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Daredevils and Punjab Kings.

His announcement came shortly after former South African captain Faf du Plessis and former England cricketer Moeen Ali chose to take part in the Pakistan Super League instead of the upcoming IPL season.

Moeen Ali said he is thrilled to be part of the new era of the PSL, describing the league as a competition known for high-quality T20 cricket and strong talent across all teams. Faf du Plessis stated that he wanted to pursue a new challenge this time and looked forward to experiencing a league filled with energy and exceptional players.
