The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled a record prize fund of $13.88 million for the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, set to be played in India and Sri Lanka from September 30. The amount represents a four-fold increase from the $3.5 million awarded at the 2022 edition in New Zealand and even surpasses the $10 million distributed at the Men’s World Cup in India in 2023.
The winners will receive $4.48 million, a sharp rise from the $1.32 million claimed by Australia in 2022. The runners-up are set to earn $2.24 million, while the two semi-finalists will pocket $1.12 million each. Every participating team is guaranteed $250,000, with an additional $34,314 for each group-stage win. Teams finishing fifth and sixth will secure $700,000 each, and those finishing seventh and eighth will collect $280,000 each.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah described the move as a “defining milestone,” adding that the decision highlights the council’s long-term commitment to women’s cricket. “This four-fold increase in prize money is a landmark moment and underscores our ambition to inspire the next generation of players and fans,” Shah said.
The tournament will open in Guwahati, with hosts India facing Sri Lanka in the first match.
