DUBAI: The ICC has dismissed the BCCI’s proposal to host future World Test Championship (WTC) Finals, opting to retain England as the event’s venue.Despite India’s strong push and calls for a rotating host system, the ICC has reportedly chosen England for the 2027, 2029, and 2031 finals, continuing the trend since the WTC began.
According to The Telegraph UK, the ECB has already been notified, and the move will be ratified at the ICC Annual Conference in Singapore next month.England has hosted all previous WTC finals—Southampton (2021), The Oval (2023), and currently, Lord’s (2025)—even though their team has yet to qualify.
The ICC’s decision is based on commercial advantages and operational convenience, with planning for the 2027 final set to begin after the current edition ends.
