Lancashire County Cricket Club issued an apology after a Pakistani cricket fan, Farooq Nazar, was removed from Old Trafford during the final day of the England-India Test match. Nazar posted a video on social media showing stewards asking him to cover his green Pakistan jersey, and after he refused, he was escorted out by police.

The incident sparked criticism online, prompting the club to conduct an internal review. In its statement, Lancashire clarified that the removal was not due to the jersey alone, but due to the fan’s behaviour toward staff and concerns over safety. A day earlier, tensions reportedly flared between Indian and Pakistani fans when a group waved a Pakistan flag, leading to security concerns. The club said the stewards made several polite requests for Nazar to cover his shirt to avoid potential escalation. When he repeatedly declined, the police were involved. The club insisted the action was taken purely as a precaution due to the politically sensitive atmosphere surrounding Indo-Pak relations.
