Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling coach, Mushtaq Ahmed, said it was an error to send opener Saim Ayub straight into the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after recovering from an injury. He explained that just practicing in the nets isn’t enough after an injury — players need proper match time to regain their form and timing. Mushtaq added that Saim should’ve played some club-level games or had more practice matches before jumping into a big tournament like the PSL.

Saim had hurt his ankle during the South Africa tour and missed important events like the Champions Trophy and the New Zealand series. Although he scored a half-century in his comeback game, his performance has dropped since then, and he was out for just one run in the recent match against Islamabad.
