LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Monday unveiled a major overhaul of the Pakistan Super League, confirming a shift to a Player Auction system from season 11 onward.

In an official statement, the PCB said PSL 11 will replace the long used Player Draft with an auction format to improve competitive fairness, ensure greater openness, and create better financial opportunities for players.

Under the new structure, franchises may retain up to four players, limited to one per category. This replaces the earlier model that allowed eight retentions along with options such as mentors, brand ambassadors, and Right to Match, all of which have now been removed.

New teams Hyderabad and Sialkot will receive special concessions, enabling them to pick and retain four players before the auction. Each team will also be allowed one direct overseas signing who did not participate in PSL 10.

The PCB also raised the player salary cap to 1.6 million dollars per franchise, reinforcing the league’s commercial appeal.

PSL 11 will begin on March 26, 2026, and will feature Faisalabad as a host city for the first time, alongside Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
