Tim Seifert’s half century and captain Mitchell Santner’s three wicket haul guided New Zealand to a 50 run consolation victory over India in the fourth T20 international on Wednesday.
Batting first, New Zealand put up 215 for 7, built on a century opening stand between Seifert, who scored 62 from 36 balls, and Devon Conway, who made 44, in Visakhapatnam.
Santner led the bowling with figures of three for 26 as India were bowled out for 165, after having already secured the five match series in the third game.
Daryl Mitchell added late momentum with an unbeaten 39 off 18 balls, while Shivam Dube’s 65 off 23 balls was the lone bright spot for India.
New Zealand now head into the fifth and final T20 on Saturday, the last warm up before the T20 World Cup beginning on February 7.
