South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC ODI bowling rankings, surpassing Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana.
The experienced left-arm spinner rose two positions to the top after producing his first-ever five-wicket haul in ODIs, returning figures of 5/33 against Australia in Cairns on Tuesday. His match-winning performance not only powered South Africa to a 98-run triumph but also propelled him ahead of Theekshana (now second) and India’s Kuldeep Yadav (third).

This marks Maharaj’s return to the summit, having previously secured the No.1 ranking in November 2023 when he overtook India pacer Mohammed Siraj during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Since then, the 35-year-old has consistently remained among the top five ODI bowlers in the world.
