Pakistan secured a place in the Super Four stage of the T20 Asia Cup 2025 after defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 41 runs in the 10th match of the tournament, played in Dubai.Chasing a target of 147, UAE’s batting lineup collapsed for 105 runs in 17.4 overs. Rahul Chopra top-scored with 35, followed by Dhriv Prashant (20), Muhammad Waseem (14), and Alishan Sharafu (12).
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed each claimed two wickets, while captain Salman Ali Agha and Saim Ayub took one apiece.
Earlier, UAE captain Muhammad Waseem won the toss and opted to field. Pakistan posted 146 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman led the charge with a half-century, scoring 50 off 36 balls with three sixes and two fours. Shaheen Afridi contributed an unbeaten 29 from 14 deliveries, while Salman Ali Agha (20) and Muhammad Haris (18) also chipped in.
Other batters failed to make an impact, with Sahibzada Farhan (5), Khushdil Shah (4), Muhammad Nawaz (4), Haris Rauf (0), and opener Saim Ayub (0) falling cheaply. Notably, this was Ayub’s fifth duck in 2025, four of which came in September against Afghanistan, Oman, India, and UAE.
For UAE, Junaid Siddique was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for just 18 runs, while Simranjeet Singh bagged 3 wickets and Prashant added one to his name.
Following the match, UAE skipper Muhammad Waseem acknowledged it was a “do-or-die” game for his side but praised his bowlers for restricting Pakistan to a modest total. Meanwhile, Salman Ali Agha said Pakistan had planned to bat first regardless of the toss outcome.
With this victory, Pakistan maintained their perfect record against UAE in T20 internationals, winning all four encounters between the two sides. The result also ended UAE’s campaign in the tournament.
