Tri-Nation Series: Sri Lanka Reach Final After Defeating Pakistan

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 6 runs in the last league match of the T20 Tri-Nation Series, securing their place in the final. The title clash will take place on Saturday between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

In Rawalpindi, Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first. Sri Lanka’s opener Pathum Nissanka fell for 8. The second-wicket stand between Kamal Mishara and Kusal Mendis added 66 runs. Mendis scored 40, while Mishara top-scored with 76. Liyanage contributed an unbeaten 24, taking Sri Lanka to 184 for 5.

Abrar Ahmed was Pakistan’s most successful bowler, taking two wickets.

Pakistan’s chase began poorly, managing only 45 runs in the powerplay while losing four wickets. Sahibzada Farhan made 9, Babar Azam was dismissed for nought, Fakhar Zaman for 1, and Saim Ayub scored 27.

Captain Salman Ali Agha and Usman Khan took the score to 99 before Usman departed for 33. Later, Mohammad Nawaz revived hopes with a rapid 27 off 16 deliveries. After his dismissal, Pakistan needed 10 runs in the final over.

Dushmantha Chameera conceded just 3 runs in the last over and dismissed Faheem Ashraf, sealing a 6-run victory for Sri Lanka. Salman Ali Agha remained unbeaten on 63.

Chameera claimed four wickets and was named Player of the Match for his excellent spell.

The Tri-Nation Series final will be played on Saturday between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
