Former South African captain AB de Villiers has strongly criticized India for mixing politics with sports during the Asia Cup.In his video program on social media, de Villiers emphasized that regional politics must be kept away from the playing field.
He remarked that the Indian team seemed unhappy with the person who was supposed to present the trophy, but in his view, such matters have nothing to do with the game itself.De Villiers stressed that politics and sports should remain separate, saying: “Cricket is a celebration of its own and should be enjoyed as such.”
He added that it was disappointing to witness what unfolded during the closing ceremony and expressed hope that the issue will be resolved soon.
De Villiers further stated that this situation has created unnecessary problems for both the game and the players, concluding that it was unpleasant to see things end on such a note.
