The issue of Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup was discussed in a meeting between the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Prime Minister where it was agreed that all possible options would remain open.
During the meeting Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Prime Minister on the situation involving the ICC while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed him to resolve the matter.
Later PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that a final decision regarding Pakistan’s inclusion in the T20 World Cup would be made by Friday or Monday.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X Mohsin Naqvi said he updated the Prime Minister on ICC related issues and that the Prime Minister directed him to settle the matter while considering all available options.

According to sources Mohsin Naqvi informed the Prime Minister about what he described as the ICC’s double standards saying the ICC applies one set of rules for India and a different set for other countries.
Sources said Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that India had earlier refused to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy after which it was granted an alternative venue.
Sources further revealed that Mohsin Naqvi stated Bangladesh had informed the ICC about security concerns regarding travel to India but instead of offering Bangladesh a neutral venue it was removed from the World Cup.
According to sources Mohsin Naqvi also said that if Pakistan does not participate in the World Cup it will miss out on a significant financial amount linked to participation.
Mohsin Naqvi added that if Pakistan does not play matches against India the greater loss would be faced by India.
