In the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting held in Dubai, India once again faced embarrassment. According to sources, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia demanded the Asia Cup trophy, insisting that since India were champions, they deserved to receive it.

ACC President Mohsin Naqvi responded firmly, saying the trophy was ready to be presented, but India’s captain did not attend the presentation ceremony, which was a breach of protocol. He added that if India still wanted the trophy, their captain should visit the ACC office to collect it.Sources further revealed that India’s conduct was criticized during the session, including not shaking hands at the toss or after the match, and the refusal to receive the trophy from the ACC President was also deemed inappropriate.

Despite the controversy, the Asia Cup was hailed as a success, drawing record viewership. The next edition of the Asia Cup, a 50-over format, will be hosted by Bangladesh in 2027.
