New Zealand cricket has suffered a major setback ahead of the home season, as Glenn Phillips, Finn Allen, and Will O’Rourke have been ruled out of the T20 series against Australia.
New Zealand fast bowler Will O’Rourke has been ruled out of action for at least three months after scans revealed a stress fracture in his back. According to New Zealand Cricket, the pacer will now undergo a strength and conditioning program during his recovery period.
As a result, O’Rourke will miss upcoming series against Australia, England, and the West Indies.Adding to New Zealand’s injury concerns, Glenn Phillips and Finn Allen have also been sidelined for the Chappell-Hadlee series against Australia. Phillips is dealing with a groin injury that requires rehabilitation, while Allen recently underwent foot surgery and is expected to be out of action for three months.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s white-ball captain Mitchell Santner has returned home from The Hundred due to groin discomfort. He is also set to undergo abdominal surgery, with an expected recovery time of one month.The Chappell-Hadlee T20I series between Australia and New Zealand is scheduled to take place from October 1 to 4.
