WINDHOEK: West Indies began their ICC Under 19 World Cup 2026 campaign with a dominant win over debutants Tanzania at the High Performance Oval.
Tanzania, playing their first U19 World Cup match, were bowled out for 122 in 34 overs despite brief resistance from openers Dylan Thakrar, who scored 26, and Darpan Jobanputra with 19. Vitel Lawes led the West Indies attack with three wickets, while Shaquan Belle and Micah McKenzie took two each.
West Indies comfortably chased the target, reaching 123 for 5 in 21 overs. Tanez Francis top scored with 52, supported by Jewel Andrew’s 44.
In another Group C match, hosts Zimbabwe and Scotland shared points after their game in Harare was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to bad weather.
