Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has reportedly come under scrutiny after popular TikToker Ducky Bhai, due to alleged links with an online betting application.
A citizen has submitted a complaint to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Lahore, requesting legal action against Wasim Akram for promoting gambling and betting platforms.The complainant claimed that Akram is serving as a brand ambassador for an Indian betting app. It was further stated that a social media poster and a video clip circulating online show him endorsing the platform, which has encouraged people to take interest in the app.
The petitioner has urged the authorities to take strict action against the former cricketer under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.Wasim Akram has not yet issued any statement regarding the matter.
It is also important to note that TikToker and YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, was recently handed a two-day physical remand for promoting the same application.
