The West Indies chased down a revised target of 181 in 33.2 overs to beat Pakistan by five wickets and level the ODI series 1-1 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Sunday. Rain had earlier reduced Pakistan’s innings to 171 for seven in 37 overs.
Roston Chase and Sherfane Rutherford led the hosts’ run chase with match-winning knocks, while captain Shai Hope also made a key contribution. Pakistan struck early, with Hasan Ali removing Brandon King for 1 and Evin Lewis for 7 inside the first four overs, leaving the home side struggling at 12-2. Abrar Ahmed then dismissed Keacy Carty for 16, increasing the pressure at 34-3.
Rutherford counterattacked, smashing boundaries freely, including 17 runs off one Shaheen Afridi over, and adding 50 runs for the fourth wicket with Hope. Mohammad Nawaz broke the stand, getting Hope for 32, and later dismissed Rutherford for 45 off 33 balls, which featured four fours and three sixes.

With the score at 104-5, Chase and Justin Greaves took control, adding an unbeaten 77-run stand to seal victory. Chase finished on 49 not out off 47 balls, while Greaves made 26 off 31 deliveries. Hasan Ali and Nawaz took two wickets each, while Abrar claimed one.

Earlier, Pakistan’s openers made a steady start before Jayden Seales turned the game with a double-wicket maiden, removing Saim Ayub (23) and skipper Babar Azam (0). Pakistan slipped to 37-2, and although Abdullah Shafique (26) and Mohammad Rizwan (16) tried to rebuild, regular wickets kept the scoring in check. Hussain Talat’s 31 and Hasan Nawaz’s unbeaten 36 off 30 balls, including three sixes, lifted the total. Shaheen Afridi added 11 not out.Seales was the standout bowler for West Indies, taking 3 for 23, while Jediah Blades, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Chase each picked up a wicket.
