Mentors Await Sacking to Claim Rs 2 Crore

Despite the PCB’s decision to end the Champions Cup and let go of mentors, only Shoaib Malik has stepped down. The board had appointed five mentors — Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, and Waqar Younis — on high salaries of Rs 5 million per month.

With the tournament scrapped due to poor performance, the remaining four mentors are reportedly waiting to be officially dismissed so they can claim four months’ pay — Rs 20 million each — as per their contracts.

Sources reveal the PCB expected voluntary resignations, but the mentors have remained silent. Interestingly, most continued other roles (like coaching, media work) despite claiming they’d left those for national service.

Some even warned that if removed, they might criticize the board publicly. PCB is now considering reassigning them to new roles with reduced pay, though no formal proposal has been made yet.
