The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is formulating a plan to establish a structured pool of players following an in-depth performance review of national cricketers. As per sources, the goal is to create a group of around 40 players across both red-ball and white-ball formats, which will serve as the foundation for future national team selections. This talent pool will also supply players to Pakistan’s Emerging and Shaheens squads. Head coach Mike Hesson, in collaboration with other coaching staff, is currently compiling a detailed evaluation report. In the initial phase, 22 players have been summoned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for assessment. Additional players from both formats will be reviewed in subsequent phases. The objective is to maintain a strong bench of backup players who are ready to step in when needed, with ongoing development and training to be conducted at the NCA based on the review findings.
