The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has affirmed that the planned home T20I tri-nation series will continue as scheduled, even after Afghanistan’s withdrawal due to recent border tensions.
A PCB representative shared on Saturday that the tournament, set for November 17–29, will follow the initial timeline. The board is in talks with other nations to replace Afghanistan, with a final decision expected shortly.
Insiders suggest that Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has been contacted to fill the vacant slot.Originally, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan were slated to compete. However, Afghanistan’s late withdrawal on Friday reportedly followed cross-border unrest that claimed the lives of three Afghan cricketers in Urgun district.
According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the players were travelling from Urgun to Sharana in Paktika province, near the Pakistan border, to participate in a friendly match when the incident occurred.
Despite the setback, the PCB remains determined to host the event and maintain the continuity of international cricket on home soil.
