The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly decided not to renew the contract of Women’s National Team Head Coach Muhammad Wasim, effectively ending his tenure with the team.
According to sources, the decision to relieve Wasim of his duties has been finalized, and a new head coach is expected to be appointed next week.Muhammad Wasim was appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team in 2024. However, his stint has come under scrutiny due to the team’s continued decline in performance.
Insiders reveal that despite having the full support of the board, Wasim failed to deliver positive results. Under his coaching, Pakistan’s women’s team struggled significantly and failed to win even a single match in the Women’s World Cup.Reports also suggest that players complained about a lack of proper coaching and guidance. Although Wasim himself was a former batsman, the team’s batting performance has been notably weak during his tenure.

Additionally, sources claim that Wasim’s behavior was often described as rigid, leading to strained relationships with the bowling and batting coaches as well as several players.Despite being part of the selection process and having influence over support staff appointments, the team’s overall progress remained stagnant.
The Women’s team’s bowling department has also continued to decline, and their fielding standards have shown little to no improvement under Wasim’s leadership.
The PCB is now reportedly considering several names for the position, with an official announcement on the new head coach expected soon.
