He suffered a hamstring injury while playing a brilliant innings against Sri Lanka during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, forcing him to withdraw from the Bangladesh tour.
To regain full fitness, Fakhar will undergo a rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) so he can return to action as soon as possible.
Pakistan are scheduled to tour Bangladesh later this month for a three-match ODI series. The national ODI squad will arrive in Dhaka on March 9, followed by a training session on March 10. The first ODI will be played on March 11, the second on March 13, and the third on March 15. All matches will take place at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
This will be Pakistan’s second tour of Bangladesh since July 2025. In their previous T20 series there, Bangladesh emerged victorious. However, during Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan in May and June 2025, the national side, led by captain Salman Ali Agha, secured a 3-0 T20 series win.
Meanwhile, there is a possibility that young players will be included in the ODI squad as part of efforts to build a stronger team. Players who have shown consistent poor performances in the T20 format could be dropped.
Reports suggest that youngsters may be given opportunities in place of Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Mohammad Nawaz. The final squad announcement is expected soon.
