For the cricket events at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, six men’s teams and six women’s teams will participate. The top-ranked teams from four continents — Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania — will qualify directly for the tournament.

The remaining teams will be decided through an ICC Olympic Qualifier tournament. The United States will also be eligible to participate automatically as the host nation if it manages to remain within the top 15 of the ICC rankings.

Team qualification will be determined based on current ICC tournaments and T20 International rankings, while the sixth spot will be awarded through the ICC Olympic Qualifier events. The qualifier tournaments will feature eight teams each, with the schedule to be announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) at a later date.

For the women’s event, Australia, India, Great Britain, and South Africa have already secured direct qualification for the Olympics based on their performances in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

At the Olympics, the six participating teams will be divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will then play crossover matches against teams from the opposite group based on standings. After that, the top two teams will compete for the Gold and Silver medals, while the third and fourth placed teams will battle for the Bronze medal.
