A historic milestone was achieved in Pakistan’s domestic first-class cricket as MIT Solutions batter Mohammad Farooq set a national record by smashing 14 sixes in a single innings during the ongoing President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament.
The explosive feat unfolded at the Shoaib Akhtar Stadium in Rawalpindi during a second-round encounter against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL). Farooq produced a breathtaking display of power-hitting, blazing his way to a magnificent 163 runs off just 99 deliveries, an innings punctuated by 11 boundaries and a record-breaking 14 sixes.
Farooq’s blitz eclipsed a long-standing domestic record that stood for nearly five decades. The previous best belonged to Pakistan Railways’ Gulfaraz Khan, who struck 12 sixes in an innings against Pakistan Universities during the 1976-77 domestic season.
