The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday declared that Test captain Shan Masood has been appointed as the Advisor for International Cricket and Player Relations.PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared the announcement during a dinner event hosted at the Prime Minister’s residence.
This move follows the PCB’s earlier advertisement for the post of Director of International Cricket Operations, a position left vacant after Usman Wahla resigned.Usman Wahla had taken on the Director’s role in May 2023, succeeding Zakir Khan, whose contract ended on April 3, 2023.
According to the PCB’s job listing, the director’s responsibilities include strategizing and coordinating international cricket events, drafting and finalizing agreements for both domestic and international tours involving Pakistan’s senior, Shaheens, Under-19, Under-16, and emerging squads.
“The position also requires preparing for ICC-related meetings, developing logistics and financial plans for tournaments, overseeing negotiations, managing contracts, and planning match itineraries across all formats under the Future Tours Programme (FTP),” the statement mentioned.Up to this point, Shan Masood has represented Pakistan in 44 Test matches, 9 One Day Internationals, and 19 T20 Internationals, having debuted against South Africa in 2013.
In total, he has led Pakistan in 14 matches, securing four victories and facing ten defeats. His latest assignment as captain came against South Africa, resulting in a 1-1 series draw.
