The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put an end to rumors suggesting middle-order batter Kamran Ghulam is being drafted into the national squad for the ongoing Test series in England. Aaqib Javed, PCB Director High Performance and member of the national selection committee, confirmed that no such proposal is currently under consideration.
Pakistan, currently led by Babar Azam, is in England with a 17-member squad preparing for a three-match Test series. The touring party includes key players such as Saud Shakeel and former captain Shan Masood, who missed the earlier Port of Spain Test against the West Indies due to a finger fracture.
Addressing the speculation, Aaqib Javed clarified that reports of Ghulam flying out as a backup or addition are entirely baseless. The 30-year-old right-handed batter—who notably smashed a memorable 118 on his Test debut at number four against England in Multan in October 2024—remains committed to domestic duties. Ghulam, who has featured in 6 Tests and 11 ODIs for Pakistan, is currently featuring for Pakistan Gold alongside skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi in the four-team One-Day Cup taking place in Multan.
