Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis, who opted out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to pursue a more lucrative opportunity in the Indian Premier League (IPL), recently found himself in an awkward situation — he forgot his kit bag.

Mendis, who played for Quetta Gladiators in the 10th season of the PSL, was drafted into the Gujarat Titans squad to replace England’s Jos Buttler for the remaining IPL fixtures.

Earlier, several high-profile players from Australia, England, and South Africa had declined to participate in the IPL due to security-related concerns. In response, IPL organizers attempted to lure players from the PSL with higher financial incentives, but only Kusal Mendis accepted the offer.

Ironically, after arriving in India, Mendis realized he had left his equipment behind in Pakistan. A Sri Lankan national residing in Pakistan kindly transported the gear to Colombo, earning public appreciation from the cricketer for his assistance.

Meanwhile, Mendis — who abandoned the PSL mid-season for IPL commitments — is now facing backlash from Pakistani fans, who view his actions as disrespectful and unprofessional.
