Shan Masood is finding it hard to keep his position as captain of Pakistan’s Test cricket team due to his ongoing poor performance.
Pakistan is set to play its next Test series against South Africa in October, and according to sources, Shan Masood might not continue as captain. His recent results have raised serious doubts about his future in the role.
Reports suggest that if Shan Masood is removed as Test captain, Saud Shakeel is being considered as a possible replacement. However, with Mike Hesson recently appointed as the new head coach, his opinion will play an important role in deciding the next captain.

It’s also important to note that under Shan Masood’s leadership — since he became Test captain in November 2023 — Pakistan has played 12 Test matches, winning only 3 and losing 9.
Pakistan’s performance in the ICC World Test Championship was also disappointing, finishing ninth on the points table.
