Former Pakistan Test captain and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan is set to make his return to competitive cricket, leading Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) against Research Laboratories in a four-day President’s Trophy match starting October 19 at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium. SNGPL Director of Cricket and Head Coach Mohammad Hafeez confirmed the development after receiving official clearance from PCB Director of Domestic Cricket Osama Sheron Niazi.
The 34-year-old veteran was among seven players urgently recalled to Pakistan by the PCB following a 194-run defeat to England in the second Test at Lord’s in August 2026, which led to an ongoing inquiry at the NCCIA. However, relations between the board and the experienced player—who has represented Pakistan in 47 Tests, 103 ODIs, and 106 T20Is—appear to be improving. Seeking to avoid further confrontation, Rizwan formally requested permission from the board to resume playing domestic cricket and refocus on his game.
