The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly in advanced discussions to appoint former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait and former New Zealand star Martin Guptill as foreign consultants for the national cricket team’s coaching staff.
According to sources, negotiations are underway to bring in Shaun Tait as the bowling consultant, while Martin Guptill is being eyed for the role of fielding consultant. Tait previously served as Pakistan’s fast-bowling coach for a year between 2022 and 2023 and recently had a coaching stint with the Bangladesh national team, which he stepped down from due to family commitments and time constraints across all three formats. Given his schedule, the PCB is exploring a flexible consultancy agreement rather than a full-time role. Meanwhile, discussions with Martin Guptill are understood to be progressing smoothly, with strong prospects of a finalized deal.
These potential appointments come in the wake of Ashley Noffke’s resignation, which prompted the PCB to advertise for a permanent bowling coach position, alongside a previous vacancy call for a dedicated fielding coach.
