The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially turned down national cricketer Mohammad Rizwan’s request to hold a press conference and speak to the media.
According to sources close to the cricketer, Rizwan had approached the PCB twice for formal permission to address the public, but the board rejected both requests. Sources revealed that Rizwan intended to bring the entire ongoing controversy into the open, specifically aiming to discuss the details regarding his mobile phone, which was seized following the Lord’s Test match, and to publicly clarify the nature of the allegations leveled against him.
Furthermore, Rizwan wanted to disclose details concerning a letter written to the International Cricket Council (ICC). While respecting Clause 4.1 of his central contract—which prohibits players from making public statements without explicit board permission—Rizwan sought to invoke Clause 16, which outlines mutual cooperation between the PCB and players.
The denial comes amidst ongoing legal and administrative scrutiny involving Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq following their abrupt recall from the tour of England, with Rizwan recently submitting his formal responses to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) via courier.
