Pakistan’s legendary speedster Wasim Akram has delivered a brilliantly witty response to the malicious social media rumors and AI-generated videos that falsely claimed he had passed away.
Taking to Instagram, the iconic “Sultan of Swing” uploaded a video to officially put the rumors to bed, mocking the absurd nature of modern internet hoaxes. “If people in this advanced digital era still can’t identify fake news, then what hope is there for us 60-year-old elders?” Akram joked.
The former captain reserved his sharpest sarcasm for the users flooding his inbox to confirm the news. “A 21-gun salute to those who are actually messaging me on social media to ask, ‘Are you alive?’ No, I am making this video after dying!” he laughed.
Akram pointed out that the creators of these deepfake funeral videos clearly put an immense amount of effort into fabricating the lies, noting that if they applied that brainpower to something productive, they might achieve actual success.
Closing his video with a classic Punjabi proverb, the cricket legend took one final swipe at the internet trolls: “Loading books onto a donkey doesn’t make it a scholar—you actually have to read them. Even cheating requires a bit of intelligence.”
