The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially commenced preparations for the Asia Cup 2027, shortlisting three major venues to host the prestigious continental tournament. BCB Security Committee Chairman, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, confirmed that Bangladesh holds the hosting rights for the upcoming edition, which will be played in the One Day International (ODI) format.

According to Ahmed, the initial proposals have earmarked Dhaka, Sylhet, and Chattogram as the primary host cities for the multi-nation tournament. “We have initiated our formal preparations for next year’s Asia Cup,” the security chief stated.

The board has also proposed a tentative schedule to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), aiming for a tournament window running from June 18 to July 4, 2027. The ACC has reportedly requested comprehensive reports regarding the infrastructure and facilities of the three proposed venues. Ahmed noted that high-level communications are actively ongoing, and all logistics are expected to be permanently finalized within the next few days.

Additionally, addressing bilateral concerns, the BCB security chief expressed absolute readiness to ramp up security protocols for the upcoming Indian cricket team’s tour, ensuring world-class protection for the visiting side.
