Addressing the media after day two of the Sylhet Test against Bangladesh, Babar said the batting surface was favorable, but Pakistan failed to build meaningful partnerships.
He mentioned that he and Salman Ali Agha attempted to stabilize the innings after a good start, but could not convert it into a major stand. Babar also praised Nahid Rana as a quality fast bowler capable of bowling above 140 kph.
The former Pakistan captain admitted that the wickets of himself and Salman Ali Agha changed the flow of the match and allowed Bangladesh to gain control.
Babar rejected the idea of any mental pressure within the team, saying the main issue is the inability to build partnerships in Test cricket. He noted that quick collapses after one wicket remain a concern, and both players and coaches are working together to fix the problem.
He emphasized that every player is trying to make a positive contribution and that reducing mistakes is essential for improvement.
Earlier in the match, Pakistan were dismissed for 232 in reply to Bangladesh’s 278, with Babar Azam scoring 68. Bangladesh later ended the second day on 110 for 3, extending their lead to 156 runs.
