India is likely to host the opening match of the upcoming Big Bash League season, with Chennai emerging as the preferred venue.

Media reports claim preparations are already underway, and the first game could take place in December. Cricket Australia has reportedly received encouraging feedback from both the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

An Australian delegation has already visited Chennai and completed a venue inspection, while officials continue discussions ahead of a final government approval.
