Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali expressed concern over the inclusion of all-rounder Shadab Khan in the squad for the upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh. While speaking on a private TV channel, Basit criticized the decision to pick Shadab Khan, saying it was unfair to other players who performed better in the recent Pakistan Super League (PSL). He added, “If I were a selector, I would not pick Shadab just based on his PSL performance.”
Basit pointed out that players like Abrar Ahmed, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Khushdil Shah showed excellent form during the PSL but were overlooked. He mentioned that Sufiyan Muqeem is currently playing well and deserved a place in the squad as an all-rounder.
Basit also raised concerns about repeating the same players again and again, saying this practice limits opportunities for young talent.

It’s worth noting that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the 3-match T20 series against Bangladesh. Senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi have been rested for the series.
