Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has launched a scathing attack on head coach Gautam Gambhir following the decision to leave spinner Kuldeep Yadav out of the third ODI against England.
Expressing deep frustration over the selection, Kaif highlighted Kuldeep’s impressive record of 194 wickets in 118 ODIs, arguing that continuously benching a bowler of his caliber is unjustifiable. Kaif even advised the wrist-spinner to consider retiring from international cricket if the management continues to overlook him, emphasizing that a left-arm spinner could have been a game-changer on the Lord’s pitch.
Echoing these concerns, former teammate Ravichandran Ashwin also questioned the management’s strategy, warning that prolonged benching erodes a bowler’s confidence and match rhythm. Kuldeep was left out of all three matches in the ODI series after being rested for the preceding T20Is, as the Indian management favored all-rounders Axar Patel and Washington Sundar to provide extra batting depth.
