Pakistan–India Tensions: ICC Considering Moving Major Events from India to Australia

The International Cricket Council is reportedly reviewing the possibility of shifting several major upcoming tournaments from India to Australia due to ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India.

According to Australian media reports, the ICC is evaluating alternative venues for the ICC Champions Trophy 2029 and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2031, which are currently scheduled to be hosted by India.

The report states that if a final decision is made to relocate these major events, Australia is the leading candidate to host them because of its strong recent record in successfully staging ICC tournaments.

The move is reportedly linked to an agreement between the cricket boards of Pakistan and India, under which all future matches between the two countries at major events will be played at neutral venues.

It should be noted that the ICC had earlier announced a hybrid model for tournaments held between 2024 and 2027 due to the tensions between Pakistan and India. However, during the recent T20 World Cup, security concerns led Bangladesh to refuse travel to India for the tournament, further complicating the situation.
