In a groundbreaking move for grassroots development, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced the introduction of central contracts for the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team for the first time in the country’s history. The historic decision was finalized during a special reception where Naqvi hosted the youth squad to celebrate their dominant performance during their recent tour of England.
Underlining the philosophy behind the initiative, Naqvi stated that central contracts will provide young athletes with essential stability, incentivizing high performance and bolstering their self-belief by ensuring that merit is tangibly rewarded. Head coach Shahid Anwar noted that following their successful overseas campaign, the PCB chief held one-on-one interactions with the cricketers, personally praising their discipline and on-field achievements.
The historic gesture drew widespread appreciation from the young squad. Under-19 captain Farhan Yousaf credited the two-year developmental camps in Multan for laying the groundwork for their international success, adding that formal contracts serve as a massive morale booster.
