Misbah-ul-Haq Urges Mentors to Protect Young Talent, Highlights Discipline as Key to Success
National selector and National Cricket Academy (NCA) batting consultant, Misbah-ul-Haq, has delivered a strong message to coaches, mentors, and parents: stop placing unnecessary pressure on emerging cricketers.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with PCB Digital, the former Pakistan captain outlined the ideal blueprint for grooming future stars. Misbah emphasized that while instilling a sense of responsibility in young players is essential, it must never overshadow their natural passion and love for the game.
“Talent alone isn’t enough; discipline and consistency are the true guarantees of success,” Misbah stated. He highlighted the rigorous lifestyle of elite athletes, noting that successful cricketers never compromise on their daily hard work, fitness routines, net practice, or balanced diets.
Championing the traditional formats of the sport, the batting maestro also underscored the critical importance of domestic multi-day formats. According to Misbah, playing 4-day cricket is instrumental in refining a young player’s technique and forging the immense mental toughness required to survive at the highest level of international cricket.
