The international cricket community is mourning the tragic loss of former Afghan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran, who has passed away at the age of 38 after a brave battle with cancer.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) officially confirmed the heartbreaking news, expressing profound sorrow over his demise. Zadran had been undergoing treatment at a local hospital in India, where several of his Afghan teammates frequently visited him to offer their support during his difficult final days.
Widely regarded as one of the pioneering figures who spearheaded Afghanistan’s remarkable rise in international cricket, Zadran leaves behind a lasting legacy. During his distinguished career, the towering pacer proudly represented his nation in 44 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 36 T20 Internationals, known for his fiery run-up and passionate celebrations.
The news has sent shockwaves across the border as well, with former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi previously expressing deep concern over Zadran’s deteriorating health and offering his unwavering support to the ailing cricketer.
