Australia secured a dominant 214-run victory over South Africa on the final day of the first Test at Kingsmead, Durban, taking an early 1-0 lead in the multi-match series.

Setting the hosts a challenging target of 421 runs to win in the fourth innings, Australia bowled out the Proteas for 206 on day five. Aiden Markram led South Africa’s resistance with a solid 75, supported by David Bedingham (46), Marco Jansen (35), and Wiaan Mulder (29), but the lineup crumbled against a relentless Australian pace attack. Josh Hazlewood spearheaded the bowling charge, dismantling South Africa’s second innings with figures of 6 for 49.

Earlier in the match, Australia laid a formidable platform by posting 390 in their first innings before bowling out South Africa for 284 to claim a 106-run lead. The visitors then declared their second innings at 314 for six to set up the decisive final-day victory.
