Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli has officially announced that the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup will be the final tournament of his illustrious international career, expressing a resolute desire to sign off by leading India to world championship glory one last time.

Speaking to the Indian media, the 37-year-old emphasized his commitment to making his farewell memorable. He described the 50-over World Cup as one of the most physically and mentally demanding competitions in the sport, noting the immense challenge of sustaining T20-level intensity throughout an entire day, particularly in foreign conditions.

The 2027 mega-event, scheduled to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in October and November, will mark Kohli’s fifth ODI World Cup appearance. Having previously tasted World Cup success in 2011, the veteran batter remains fiercely determined to capture the title after India’s heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the 2023 final.

Kohli, who has already stepped away from Test and T20 International cricket to focus exclusively on the ODI format, heads toward his career’s twilight in spectacular form, having recently cemented his legendary status by becoming the second and fastest batter in history to surpass 15,000 ODI runs.
