Pakistani cricketers aiming to participate in overseas T20 leagues this August face major hurdles, as their chances of securing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have drastically plummeted.
According to reliable sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has locked in plans to organize a high-stakes, four-team domestic One Day tournament in August. The selection committee is already actively working on finalizing player rosters for the competition.
This domestic tournament directly clashes with the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), which is scheduled to run from August 7 to September 20. A host of prominent Pakistani white-ball cricketers require NOCs from the board to fly out for the CPL. However, the PCB has explicitly informed the players that participation in the upcoming domestic ODI tournament is completely mandatory for all white-ball specialists.
Consequently, dynamic stars like Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem, Saad Masood, Usman Khan, and Salman Irshad are now highly unlikely to receive their clearances. In a surprising turn of events, even young all-rounder Maaz Sadaqat—who had previously been officially granted his NOC by the PCB—is now expected to miss out on the Caribbean league to feature in the domestic tournament.
The PCB’s sudden strategic shift stems from a packed international calendar featuring an abundance of ODI fixtures ahead of the next World Cup. The board is determined to utilize this domestic window to unearth top-tier talent and solidify a formidable ODI pool before the upcoming global mega-event.
