Lahore: Babar Azam is set to be reappointed as Pakistan’s Test captain after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi approved his appointment, according to reports. An official announcement is expected Monday.
The Test captaincy became a major talking point after vice-captain Saud Shakeel was ruled out due to injury. During the selection process, Salman Ali Agha was also discussed as a potential candidate for the leadership role.
However, the PCB has reportedly decided to hand the responsibility back to Babar Azam, marking his return as Pakistan’s Test captain. The move reflects the board’s confidence in Babar’s leadership and experience as the national team prepares for upcoming assignments.
An official confirmation from the Pakistan Cricket Board is expected in the coming days
