Mohammad Amir has reportedly become a British citizen.

The former Pakistan pacer hinted at the development through an Instagram story referencing his British nationality. Amir, aged 34, played 36 Test matches, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is for Pakistan during his international career.

Reports say his wife already possesses British citizenship.

A member of Pakistan’s victorious 2009 T20 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy squads, Amir had earlier made it clear that he would not represent England since he had already played for Pakistan.

The left arm fast bowler retired from international cricket again in 2024.

Speaking on Geo News’ show “Harna Mana Hai” last year, Amir mentioned that he might get the chance to play in the IPL and would accept the opportunity if it came. He added that his preferred franchise would be Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
