Mohammad Rizwan is reportedly at risk of being left out of Pakistan’s ODI squad for the upcoming series against Australia.
According to reports, coach Mike Hesson, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, and the selection committee are considering new wicketkeeping options for the three match ODI series, reducing Rizwan’s chances of selection.
Sources claim that Mike Hesson does not support Rizwan’s inclusion in ODI cricket after his exclusion from the T20 setup. Despite this, the experienced wicketkeeper has an impressive ODI record with 2,979 runs in 103 matches, including 4 hundreds and 19 fifties, along with 113 catches and 7 stumpings.
Rizwan managed only 58 runs in three ODIs against Bangladesh earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Ghazi Ghori, who debuted as a batter in the third ODI against Bangladesh and remained with the Test squad, is being considered for the Australia series. Either Usman Khan or Mirza سعد Baig may be selected as the backup wicketkeeper.
Australia are scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23, while Pakistan will start preparations in Rawalpindi from May 22 before the ODI matches on May 30, June 2, and June 4.
