Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam says he knows how to respond to criticism but chooses respect, as his elders taught him to stay humble. In an interview Babar said, “Everyone can talk — I can too — but I believe in self-respect and respecting others.”

Talking about his batting, Babar said fans expect him to stay at the crease longer, and while he enjoys short innings, he’s working on lasting longer. “I make mistakes, try to improve, and stay focused. Cricket is full of ups and downs,” he said.
On strike rate criticism, Babar responded, “I understand where cricket is heading. I don’t need to prove anything — I always play according to the team’s needs and match situation.”
Regarding his batting order, he clarified that he’s flexible. “Sometimes I open, sometimes I bat at No. 3. I’ve never insisted on a fixed position. Wherever Pakistan or my team needs me, I’m ready.”

Babar admitted fan expectations bring pressure, but also motivation. “The love people show boosts my confidence. I used to dream of playing in these stadiums — now people chant my name. I’m grateful and focused on not letting fans down.”
He even laughed about social media memes, saying, “Sometimes I enjoy them too.”
