The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had reached out to officials in Dubai to host the remaining IPL 2025 matches, but the attempt didn’t go as planned. According to sources, the Indian board contacted the UAE authorities on May 8, hoping to shift IPL matches to Dubai due to security concerns back home.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), led by Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, had already taken the initiative. PCB had spoken to the Emirates Cricket Board earlier and finalized arrangements to hold the rest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) in Dubai.

When the BCCI made contact, they were informed that Pakistan had already secured the dates and venue. The PCB officially confirmed the move late on the night of May 8.

As a result, India has indefinitely postponed the IPL season due to the unavailability of a venue. Indian media reports now suggest the BCCI may consider holding the IPL in September, though that could affect the schedule of the Asia Cup.
